I typically don't prefer to be the center of attention, I find myself to be uncomfortable, but I realized that I was in front of the people I loved most, & that loved me. It was okay to be myself, and I couldn't stop smiling. (My brother did a great job capturing some of my goofy faces & smiles.)
While opening my cards, I finally got to my grandmothers. Right when I saw her handwriting, I got a knot in my throat. My grandpa was like my father figure, unfortunately he passed away in 2005, from cancer, & left us too soon. He was supposed to walk me down the isle the day of my wedding, & since he had passed it was then said that my brother would have the honor of walking me. Whenever my grandma gives me a card, she always makes sure to write something in memory of my grandfather. She always knows what to say to make me choke up & always cry so I knew she wasn't going to hesitate for my bridal shower. When I opened the card, it had another paper in it written front to back. I just looked around the room as I started to sob, my mom walked over & read the letter out loud. The whole room was quiet as my mom sobbed reading the letter, having to take a break here & there to catch her breath. In the letter my grandma wrote how I was always there to keep her company when he passed. I will always cherish that letter.
As of now, my mom will be walking me down the isle, my brother enlisted into the Army & will unfortunately have to miss my wedding due to his dates for training. My brother did me the honor of driving me to the bridal shower & being there for me. It meant the world to me that he was able to be there for that. All in all, It was an amazing day I'm very lucky to have such an amazing family that loves me & welcomes my fiance'. I couldn't have had a better shower , & I owe it all to my mom, sister & family.
